Jensen Systems Inc.
provided engineering services for the City of Glendale Arizona, Arrowhead Ranch Water
Treatment Facility Capacity Expansion.
Jensen Systems Inc. provided re-engineering of the much of the electrical control
system for the plant to accommodate the adoption of NFPA Standard 820 (for Fire Protection
in Wastewater Treatment Facilities). The Engineering was completed on a very fast
schedule.
Jensen Systems Inc. also produced the Process and Instrumentation, Electrical, and
Controls conformance drawings for the project. Extensive changes and corrections to nearly
80 drawings was accomplished within a few weeks.
Jensen Systems Inc. developed a detailed 55 page Controls Software Specification prior
to PLC and SCADA/HMI programming. We worked with, and coordinated the efforts of City
Engineers, Operators and other Consultants to produce a coherent, detailed, and accurate
control strategy for every control, monitoring and alarm point in the system.
Jensen Systems Inc. was solely responsible for the new Intellution Fix Dynamics
SCADA/HMI. Redundant SCADA nodes collect data from 35 PLC and VFD nodes on two different
Modicon Modbus Plus 'data highways'. Three additional Dynamics 'View' nodes are located in
strategic locations at the facility. One additional 'View' node was installed in
the Cholla control room.
The new SCADA/HMI takes full advantage of the Visual Basic programming language
inherent in Fix Dynamics, in order to make the operator interface more consistent with
standard Windows applications such as Microsoft Office. Custom dialog boxes have been
created to simplify tasks and add functionality that was not possible with previous
versions of the FIX.
